According to industry leaders like Angi, NerdWallet, and MoveBuddha, the average cost of moving in the U.S. ranges from $1,250 for local moves to $4,500+ for long-distance moves. These are solid benchmarks — but after nearly 20 years and thousands of Colorado moves, here’s what I’ve learned:
👉 A Good Moving Company rule of thumb is $1 per square foot of the home you’re in now.
That simple math gives you a clearer picture of what to expect right here in Northern Colorado. Information is free — I’ll always share it. But if you want your moving day to go from “most stressful day ever” to a smooth, well-planned experience, that’s when you call me.

If you live in a 1,000 sq. ft. apartment, plan on about $1,000 to move. A 2,000 sq. ft. house ≈ $2,000. A 3,000 sq. ft. home ≈ $3,000. It’s a simple way to plan ahead before you even call. Add in our 10% cash discount, and you can shave even more off the final bill.

Each flight of stairs usually adds about one extra hour to your move. Second-floor apartment? Add an hour. Third floor? Add two. Moving from one third-floor apartment into another could mean four extra hours just from stairs alone. At $250/hr, you’ll want to plan for it. Simple, predictable, and no monkey business.

✅ $1 per square foot of the place you’re moving out of works for about 80% of my customers.
What can affect cost?
💡 That $1/sq ft rule gives you a realistic starting point without guessing.
If you’re in that other 20% — oversized furniture, tricky access, or a basement full of boxes — call me.
I’ll shoot you straight and make sure your move is priced fairly and handled with no surprises.
💵 10% discount for cash to keep it fair.
What can affect price?
👉 It’s not just about what you have — it’s also about how far it all needs to go.
$250 per hour for two trained movers and a fully-equipped truck.
Need a bigger crew? We can send more movers. The hourly rate is higher, but the work goes faster. 💡 In most cases, the final bill comes out about the same — it just depends on your priorities: time or budget.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: match your move with the right crew and the right plan — one that fits your needs and your wallet.
Why the difference?
Just like our local service:
👉 Whether local or regional, my promise is the same: fair pricing, solid work, and no surprises.
Ideally, book your move 2 to 4 weeks in advance — especially if you're moving at the end of the month, during summer, or on a weekend when demand is high.
That gives you the best chance of locking in your preferred time, avoiding last-minute stress, and securing the crew size you need.
That said, if your move is coming up fast, don’t panic — we do our best to accommodate last-minute moves, especially local ones.
Whether you’re planning ahead or racing the clock, give us a call. We’ll get you on the schedule and make it happen.

You don’t have to pack everything yourself — we offer full packing services — but here’s the truth: the more you pack, the less you’ll spend.
When we handle packing, it adds time, materials, and labor — which is great if you want a hands-off move, but it does cost more.
I tell people this all the time:
If you're fully packed and ready, your local Front Range move will cost close to $1 per square foot.
If we’re doing a lot of packing for you, it can easily jump to $2 or even $3 per square foot, depending on how much stuff there is and how fragile it is.
So if you're looking to save money, pack what you can. If you want convenience, we’ve got you covered either way. We’re here to help — whether it’s just the heavy lifting or the whole thing, boxes and all.
Not us! Nope. Never have, never will.
We don’t believe in holding your move hostage. You don’t pay until the job is done. No upfront fees. No surprise charges. Just honest service you can trust.
100% yes. A Good Moving Company is fully licensed at both the state and federal level (DOT, MC, PUC filings) and carries the insurance required to protect your move. Translation: your belongings — and your peace of mind — are covered.
Absolutely. Beds, tables, couches, entertainment centers, even the “mystery IKEA puzzle” — we’ll take it apart, move it safely, and put it back together at your new place.
The honest answer? I can’t promise that — and neither can anyone else.
I’ve been doing this nearly 20 years, and I could walk through your place today, look at every room, and still not be able to say with 100% certainty that it’ll all fit in one truck, trailer, POD, or storage unit. There are just too many variables — box sizes, odd-shaped furniture, how it's packed, last-minute adds, etc.
That said, I can give you a solid 80/20 or 90/10 estimate — but that depends on the information I get from you. And let’s be real… that info is rarely complete.
Photos help a ton. If you send clear pictures or do a video walk-through, I can give you a pretty accurate expectation of what’s likely to happen.
But until we’re actually loading it, we’re just making educated guesses. My job is to move you as smoothly and efficiently as possible — and I’ve gotten really good at that — but I won’t promise more than I can deliver.
You don’t have to, but it’s a bit of a tradeoff.
Sometimes leaving stuff in the drawers works out fine — and other times, it doesn't. If the furniture is solid and the drawers are packed light, we can usually move it safely as-is.
But here's the rule: no heavy stuff, no breakables, and definitely no books or bricks.
Keep it to soft, lightweight things — like clothes, linens, or towels. If it feels like it might break your toe if it falls out… take it out. For reals.
We’ll always let you know on move day if something needs to be emptied, but packing smart ahead of time saves time, stress, and your furniture.
No cost, no problem — just let us know.
We get it — things change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we won’t hit you with a fee or give you a hard time. Just give us a heads-up as soon as you can so we can adjust the schedule and help the next person in line.
Simple, respectful, and fair — just how moving should be.
Nasty shit
Yes, absolutely.
Life happens. If you need to push your move date forward or back, just reach out and we’ll work with you to reschedule. There’s no fee — just give us as much notice as you can so we can make it work for everyone.
We’re flexible when you need us to be.
Some do. Some don’t. We do — every time.
We pad and wrap your furniture using heavy-duty blankets and straps so it doesn’t get dinged, scraped, or crushed in the truck. We bring the right tools and take the time to move things safely, not just quickly.
I treat your furniture like it’s mine — because I know how much that dresser, table, or couch means to you.
And here’s the thing: protecting your stuff isn’t extra — it’s part of doing the job right.
We treat your belongings like they’re our own — but in the rare case something gets damaged or goes missing, we don’t hide from it.
Every move is covered by basic valuation protection, which pays out based on weight. For higher-value items, we always recommend asking about full-value coverage for extra peace of mind.
If there’s an issue, just let us know right away — we’ll walk you through the process and make it right. No runaround, no disappearing act. We stand behind our work.
We actually show up.
That might sound basic, but in this industry? It’s a big deal. We’re not a franchise, and we’re not hiring off Craigslist. A Good Moving Company is built on trust, experience, and hard-earned local reputation — not gimmicks.
With us, you get trained, reliable movers, real transparency, and no surprises. No deposits. No sketchy fees. Just a crew that works hard, treats your home with respect, and gets the job done right.
Our founder, Cipriano, has been doing this for 20+ years, and he still oversees every move like it’s his own family on the line, because it is!
That’s what makes us different — and that’s why Northern Colorado keeps calling us back.
The earlier the better — especially during summer, the busiest moving season.
I have a saying: “As soon as you know you’re moving, that’s the day to make a free reservation for movers.”
The sooner you reach out, the better chance we have to lock in your preferred crew, time slot, and date — especially during peak times like summer, weekends, and the end of the month.
But don’t stress if things are last-minute. If we’ve got a truck and a crew open, we’ll do everything we can to help.
Whether you’re planning two months ahead or two days before, we’ll shoot you straight and work to make it happen.
A lot of companies can move your stuff. We move people — and we do it right.
What sets us apart? Simple:
I’ve been doing this nearly 20 years. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the “oh hell no.” That’s why we built A Good Moving Company to be the opposite of the usual moving experience.
No flakes. No disappearing acts. No surprise charges.
Just good people doing solid work — fast, careful, and fair. That’s the difference.
We charge by the hour.
If your move takes longer, you only pay for the actual time worked — no padding, no games, no surprise fees.
How we work:
Here’s the truth (from Cipriano):
“I started moving in 2007 — and here’s what no other mover will say out loud:
The job will always take longer than planned. There, I said it.”
Why? Because it’s just moving:
How to keep things smooth:
And if the price ends up higher than it should? I adjust it.
Fair is fair.
My goal is simple: move you the right way, for the right price, with no drama.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 30 million Americans move each year, and Colorado consistently ranks among the top inbound states for new residents.
